Rock climbing in Mallorca: courses – Introduction

Designed for people who want to get a head-start in sport climbing

Climbing courses Initiation level are intended for anyone who has never practiced climbing or who doesn’t know the necessary techniques to carry out the activity safely, who wants to start to climbing or wants to get into the sport..

The Initiation course is divided into three sub-levels. Each sublevel is a day of activity (5 hours).

People interested may choose the course for which they wish to start depending on their knowledge.

Upon completion of the Initiation III course, participants will have the knowledge to practice climbing independently.

INITIATION I

A course designed for those interested who want to try this sport safely. During the session we will practice basic maneuvers of sports basic technique of progression with rope on Top rope climbing mode, and safety means.

During the session, besides knowing the different types of climbing, we will know and use the basic material, and each participant will be tested with different level roads. Participants will be the protagonists of the session and we will practice a day of climbing where the instructor will check that the maneuvers are done correctly and safely.

We will emphasize the practice of climbing in Mallorca, its possibilities and its practice minimizing the environmental impact.

The Initiation I course takes place in the north of the island in Pollença or Alcúdia.

Objectives

  • Knowing the sport of climbing, its various forms and possibilities in Mallorca.

  • Know and use the basic material of sport climbing.

  • Learn how to use safety knots.

  • Learning to make eight fllowed knots and in double.

  • Ensure colleagues with Gri-Gri, ATC and dynamic.

  • Climbing in mode “top rope” at least 2 climbing routes.

  • Rappel with the eight safely using the safety maneuvers.

  • Assess the level of each participant.

INITIATION II

A course designed for those who assume the contents of the previous course or who have completed the course Initiation I. We will review all content taught in the previous level and put into practice.
Participants climb more autonomously, we will string us in pairs using the correct equipment for climbing. We will go over the Top rope technique and we will begin to climb as lead climber with additional security means, emphasizing the techniques of plate, progression and assurance technique. Participants will begin to us the correct maneuvers of end of track without carabiners at the meeting and to make a fortune abseil at half of the track.

The Initiation I course takes place in the north of the island in Pollença or Alcúdia.

  • Review the contents of the Initiation I course.

  • Apply the lead climber climbing with additional security means.

  • Finish the route with a ring at the meeting with the right technique.

  • Apply techniques of fortune abseil at half of the track.

INITIATION III

A course designed for those who assume the contents of the previous course or have completed the course Initiation II. We will review all content taught in the previous course and put into practice. Participants will climb autonomously and we will select the climbing route according to our level, we will have to string in pairs using the correct equipment for climbing. We will go over the technique of the lead climber and we will climb using this technique, emphasizing the techniques of veneering and assurance.
We will practice first climbing fall with the correct technique of blocking the fall. We will assume the correct maneuvers of end of track without carabiners at the meeting and rappel from it.
Participants who end this block satisfactorily, will have been able to acquire the necessary knowledge for climbing independently without the help of an instructor. With the completion of the third course of the first level (Initiation III), we will obtain a certificate from the company with the corresponding recognition of training hours.
